Disability Insurance: Why It Is Essential!

It’s always important to expect the unexpected. That’s where disability insurance comes in. We never know what life may throw at us, but we can prepare ourselves for even the worst. If your client is on the fence about purchasing disability insurance, here is some information that they’ll want to strongly consider.

Your client can’t work? Disability insurance has them covered.

Even if your client is out of work for just a few weeks due to unexpected illness or injury, disability insurance will take care of any essential expenses they may need so that their recovery process is less stressful on their health and their wallet. These expenses can cover a number of items including food, electricity bills, tuition, car payments, and other important bills.

Do others depend on your client to survive? They need disability insurance.

If your client has people in their life that depend on them having a regular income, it is imperative that they have disability insurance in case anything ever happens that causes them to miss work for an extended period of time. If your client is expected to be out of work for less than a year, social security benefits will not cover them. Going an entire year without a regular income could drain their savings account and have a huge impact on their financial security.

Is your client young and healthy? They still need disability insurance.

Did you know that almost 1 in 4 of today’s 20-year-olds will become disabled at some point before they turn 67? Just because your client may be healthy right now doesn’t mean that they’re unstoppable. At any given moment, something can unexpectedly happen to them be it an illness or injury. Disability insurance is all about preparing for the unexpected and making sure your financials are taken care of if need be. Plus, if your client opts for disability insurance at a young age, they’ll be able to get it easier and at a less expensive rate.

Is your client on a tight budget? Some disability insurance is better than no disability insurance.

If your client’s budget is tight, he may not be able to get the full disability package. That’s okay. However, he’ll still want to buy enough disability insurance to cover the essential expenses such as rent or mortgage payments. Disability insurance is actually more affordable than many people may think, and your client should look at his option to see what works best for him and his family.
